Aston Villa ready to take advantage of Barcelona's hesitation over Rashford
Aston Villa are closely monitoring the situation surrounding Marcus Rashford , reports Sky Sports . The 28-year-old striker is currently on loan at Barcelona , and the La Liga giants have an option to buy him for £26 million. However, the Camp Nou are trying to reduce the player's price and are currently not willing to activate the clause, instead offering a new one-year loan deal. Manchester United are refusing such an option and are instead inclined to return the player and look for another buyer. The Red Devils' bosses are convinced that Rashford's strong season with the Catalans will generate additional interest and could even get more money for him. It is this situation that they would be willing to take advantage of in Birmingham and try to take the player back to Villa Park.
According to Sky sources in Spain , Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is keen on Rashford after having him in his squad in the second half of last season. The striker then scored four goals in 17 games and brought additional strength to the Birmingham attack. Marcus Rashford has made 45 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions since the start of the season, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists.
