Flick accepted Barcelona's offer - could stay for another three years
Hansi Flick has accepted Barcelona 's offer to renew his contract. The current agreement expired in June 2027, and the expectations were that the new contract would be extended by an additional 12 months. However, both parties have set the possibility of an even longer commitment for the German. According to Mundo Deportivo, the contract, which will be signed after the championship title is made official, will be until the summer of 2028 with the option of an additional year. This means that if all goes well, Flick will remain in office until 2029.
President Joan Laporta wanted a longer contract, while Flick himself preferred a shorter one. This is how this compromise was reached. The additional year will be activated automatically if both parties agree.
The final details will be finalized next week when Pini Zahavi arrives in Barcelona. He is the agent not only of Flick but also of Robert Lewandowski, whose future is also still unclear.
Flick will soon win his fifth trophy with Barcelona since taking over two years ago. If he completes his new contract, it will mean he will remain at Camp Nou until the age of 64. It is not out of the question that this stay could be extended further and Barcelona could be the last club in the German's career.
